Kotte Santhindriya thero at the temple. The school focuses on teaching Sinhala language skills, budhist values and cultural heritage and encourage meditation and developing positive mindfullness.
Children of the Sunday school participate in many events at the temple including “Wesak Bakthi Gee”, “Katina Perahara” and Sinhala new year festival.
Dear Parents, Students, and Community Members,
After careful consultation with the parents of current students and
the NVBA committee, we would like to inform you about an important
update regarding the future of the NVBA Sunday School. Following these
discussions, a decision has been made to focus exclusively on
providing Dhamma Education for Dhampasala. As a result, we will no
longer be funded by the Department of Education, and we are now fully
responsible for the operational costs of our program.
The fees we collect will be used to cover essential expenses,
including teachers’ wages and the relevant insurances required to
operate a safe and effective space for Dhamma Education. We are
committed to maintaining the quality of education while ensuring a
sustainable future for the Sunday School.
For the upcoming year (2025), we have outlined the class fees below.
We ask for your understanding and continued support as we make these
necessary adjustments to better serve our community.
Thank you for being a part of the NVBA Sunday School, and we look
forward to another year of learning and growth together.
Warm regards,
The NVBA Sunday School Team
The school is conducted in both Sinhalease and English languages. The school's curriculum is designed to provide Sinhala Language skills in writing and reading to a high standard; for students from beginners to secondary level.
When attending classes children are expected to dress appropriately. Discipline and puntuality are promoted as necessary elements in the school's dhamma education.
It is encouraged that all parents participate in the Buddha puja with the children at 6PM. Parents are also expected to participate in many of the activities at the temple.
